[Linux] OS booting got the error message after GPU DMA allocated
Environment
- RAID Model: All Supreme RAID models
- Host Hardware: AMD/Intel
- Operating System: Linux
- SupremeRAID Driver: 1.3.x and later versions
Description
A known issue exists with the NVIDIA driver in older kernel versions, such as Ubuntu 20.04. Compatibility issues may result in a warning message appearing once during system boot. Although the NVIDIA driver includes a workaround to mitigate this problem, the message may still be displayed. This issue does not occur in newer Ubuntu versions, such as 22.04 or 24.04.
Root Cause
This issue stems from compatibility adjustments in the NVIDIA driver for older Linux kernel versions. The driver employs a workaround to handle these adjustments, but a residual warning message remains visible during system boot on Ubuntu 20.04. The warning is harmless and does not impact functionality.
Impact
The warning message may cause confusion among users or administrators but does not affect system performance or functionality.
Resolution
- Upgrade the Operating System:
- Update to Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, where this issue has been resolved.
- Acknowledge as a Known Issue:
- For users on Ubuntu 20.04, document this as a known issue in system logs and inform relevant personnel that it can be safely ignored.
