[Windows][GUI] How to create a Microsoft loopback adapter#

Environment

RAID Model: SR1000 or SR1010, SR1001
Host Hardware: Any
Operating System: Windows

Issue

When no active network connection is available, the Graid Management GUI (MGR) may fail to display properly in Windows. This is because the GUI service depends on network availability to bind and operate.

Resolution

To prevent GUI display issues in environments without active networking, we recommend adding a Microsoft Loopback Adapter. This ensures the GUI has a consistent network interface to bind to.

Steps to Add Microsoft Loopback Adapter

Option 1: Using Device Manager (Manual Method)

  1. Open Device Manager
Press Win + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter.

  2. Add Legacy Hardware

    • In Device Manager, click Action > Add legacy hardware.

    • Click Next in the wizard.

  3. Install the hardware manually

    • Select “Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)”, then click Next.

  4. Choose Network Adapter

    • From the list, select “Network adapters”, then click Next.

  5. Select Microsoft Loopback Adapter

    • Choose Manufacturer: Microsoft

    • Then select Microsoft KM-TEST Loopback Adapter

    • Click Next, then Finish to complete installation.
